Craig Reeves - Teacher
St. Peter's School, Panchgani

Its not everyday when a teacher from a small rural town in the mountains of Western India gets an opportunity to participate in different roles at an International Youth Summit. In March 2009 this opportunity came my way at St. Peter's, where I teach English and Economics. I jumped at it. It meant a commitment to eight months of preperation going through a cycle of a student and teacher exchange while understanding the ethos of different school systems when I visited Europe in May 2009. This helped me crystalze my roles and responsibilities in the documentation, logistics and budgeting of the YS.

What was exciting was being Peter's wheels and keying in his messages while Jouko and he brainstormed over the Internet.

Every step of this unfolding, watching students join in, drop-out, return along with new entries, reading their intros, creating their space on our eJournal and the many many small details and tasks were quite exhausting. I learnt that the states of being exhausted and happy could co-exist.

As a young unmarried teacher to have this fantastic exposure of a process that will peak out in a few weeks is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.

I take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge the trustees of Spandan Eco Foundation and St. Peter's school for creating these exciting roles for me.

As a member of the host country's team, I welcome each and every participant to YS'09.

See you soon...
